Community Outreach

Let’s help our community!

Annies Community Kitchen

Started in 2004 by Annie Fortnum and Bob Snyder, an all-volunteer effort facilitated by Fortnum, Snyder, and dozens of volunteers to cook and serve a free community meal, every Wednesday night in the Fellowship Hall of Edmonds Lutheran Church.

Fighting the food insecurity that many people in our city face, they provide hot and fresh meals to those who don’t have access to such a basic need as food. So, how do we play into all this? We are a facility that produces food at a high volume, and sometimes we end up with extra. Rather than throwing it away and contributing to the already large issue of food waste, we felt it a better idea to give that extra food to Annies Kitchen! Foods such as cooked pasta, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, pasta salad, etc. to use in the meals they prepare for those in need. We are so happy to be able to work with people who dedicate so much of their time to helping others. We’re excited and ready to help them on their mission to bettering our community.

New Beginnings: Ending Domestic Violence

Founded in 1976, New Beginnings’ mission is to empower survivors and mobilize community awareness and action to end domestic violence.

We’ve been working with New Beginnings since 2021 and have had a strong partnership since then. A few ways we’ve helped is by starting a fundraiser and matching the amount that was raised. We also regularly donate to their Adopt an Apartment program. Each year, New Beginnings offers 17 units to survivors and their children while they heal, re-establish normalcy, work toward their goals, and find a permanent place to rebuild their lives. With our donations, we help sponsor apartments for those survivors. We’re very grateful to be a part of this awesome organization.
